Sargsyan: Armenia wishes peaceful settlement for Karabakh conflict
YEREVAN, June 20. /ARKA/. President Serzh Sargsyan has reconfirmed today Armenia’s wish to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by peaceful means only as he met with Russian president Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

"Our position on Karabakh is known to all: we want this issue to be resolved exclusively by peaceful means. I would like to thank you, the leaders of other countries, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, for the attention and the effort that you give to this issue," Sargsyan said.

He also regretted that such conflicts can not be resolved at the wish of one party. "We would certainly be happy if we were able today to  move forward on the implementation of the agreements that we reached in Vienna, by creating mechanisms to investigate violations of the ceasefire. This will create a working mood for negotiations", said Sargsyan.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is hosting the second meeting between Aliyev and Sargsyan since a truce was established in early April to halt four days of fighting around Nagorno-Karabakh.

Putin is expected to have separate meetings with the presidents and then the three presidents will discuss the Karabakh issue together. The meeting will be also attended by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs - Pierre Andrieu (France), James Warlick (USA) and Igor Popov (Russia). -0-
