YEREVAN, September 2. /ARKA/. Serzh Sargsyan, Armenian president, addressed Karabakh people on Friday congratulating them on the 25th anniversary of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s independence, the presidential press office reports.
“September 2, 1991, is a glorious page in contemporary history,” Sargsyan said in his address. “A quarter of a century ago Artsakh [Karabakh] people made their irreversible choice. This landmark step was a well-thought-out and sensible action. Artsakh Armenians, who were in deadly danger, returned from the ragged edge to life and freedom by making their choice and by displaying their will and determination.”
Sargsyan said that Artsakh people had won an unequal battle and had built a free state and a free society.
He said Artsakh people had also created a capable army.
The republic has still untapped room for development, he said adding that Artsakh and Armenia have plenty to do.
“We will do what we have to do, and we will do it by joint efforts of all Armenian communities worldwide contrary to all difficulties and challenges,” Sargsyan said.
“The April military actions have shown again that the enemy will be thrown back with tremendous losses, if it tries to solve problems by military actions.” -0---
