YEREVAN, May 17. /ARKA/. Armenian transport and communications minister Manuk Vardanyan said today he was ready to carry on in his current capacity if Orinats Yerkir (Country of Law) party of which he is a member, would need his skills and experience. His remarks came in response to media speculation that he was going to quit the party.
A spokesman for the Orinats Yerkir, Harutyun Amiryan, denied the rumors when asked for comments by Novosti-Armenia news agency.
"If the party finds that its needs me, I will want to work, but if not, I will think about finding another job," the minister told local reporters.
"I do not know what a government will be formed, and how Cabinet portfolios will be distributed. Just forget that the ministerial position is political," he stressed.
Under a power-sharing agreement the ministerial positions in the current government are distributed among the Republican Party and its junior partners- Prosperous Armenia and Orinats Yerkir. Orinats Yerkir has three ministerial portfolios. In May 6 parliamentary elections it won 6 seats. -0-
