U.S. must hold Aliyev accountable: U.S. congressman on Azerbaijani provocation against Armenia

YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. This is another senseless provocation from Azerbaijani forces against Armenia, U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone said in a tweet in a comment on fresh fighting on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, provoked by Azerbaijan on Tuesday.

‘Azerbaijan has repeatedly initiated unprovoked acts of aggression on sovereign Armenian territory that destabilize the region and make peace nearly impossible. The U.S. must hold Aliyev accountable,’ Pallone said.

Three Armenian soldiers were killed and six others were wounded on Tuesday in a fresh clash on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border provoked by Azerbaijan.

The Armenian Defense Ministry said Armenian troops came under Azerbaijani fire when they were fortifying their positions outside Tegh, a border village in southeastern Syunik province.

The Defense Ministry said about an hour later at 5.30 pm Azerbaijan resumed shelling using also mortars. In the latest update, the ministry said the situation in the area was “relatively stable” as of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.-0-
