UN peacekeeping operations staff to participate in “Inviolable Brotherhood 2015” drills in Armenia

The second round of the headquarters talks on preparations for “Inviolable Brotherhood 2015” drills started in Armenia’s ministry of defense on Wednesday.
YEREVAN, June 10. /ARKA/. The second round of the headquarters talks on preparations for “Inviolable Brotherhood 2015” drills started in Armenia’s ministry of defense on Wednesday.
The drills will be held by the peacekeeping force of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in (CSTO) Armenia from September 28 to October 4, the press office of Armenia’s ministry of defense.
Armenia’s first deputy minister of defense David Tonoyan said during the talks that Hervé Ladsous, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations approved the list of staff from UN department of peacekeeping operations to participate in the upcoming drills as observers.
Tonoyan said cooperation was established between the ministry and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and stressed the importance of ICRC’s involvement both in the talks and the exercises.
Head of CSTO headquarters lieutenant-general A. Studenikin proposed to continue using study groups with professors of leading military schools of the member states to improve the military cooperation within the CSTO.
The coming military exercises are the key event in the series of peacekeeping combat training measures, deputy head of Armenia’s Army headquarters lieutenant-general L. Mnatsakanyan said.
