Union of Armenians of Russia asks Russia and OSCE to condemn Azerbaijani aggression

The Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) issued a statement today, urging Russia’s leadership and the OSCE Minsk Group co-hairs to condemn Azerbaijan’s aggression against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).
YEREVAN, April 3. /ARKA/. The Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) issued a statement today, urging Russia’s leadership and the OSCE Minsk Group co-hairs to condemn Azerbaijan’s aggression against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).
"The Union of Armenians of Russia is greatly concerned about the latest armed clashes along the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. By supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin's position who demanded an immediate end to hostilities, we call on the leadership of the Russian Federation, as well as the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to condemn the aggressor and put pressure on Baku to make it abandon its militaristic policy, leading not only to a further escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but also to destabilization of the whole region," SAR said in a statement.
The Union of Armenians of Russia expressed its solidarity with Armenia and Artsakh (the Armenian name of Karabakh) in these days of destiny and called on all Armenians to leave aside their political and other differences, to rally around the leadership of the country and support its actions aimed at rebuffing the aggressor."
"We call also on all Diaspora Armenians and urge them to remain calm, not to succumb to provocations and to use all available resources to support our fellow citizens, whose security is now under threat," says the statement.
The UAR also urged the Azerbaijani public to express their civic position and condemn the actions of official Baku, which, backed by Turkey, is ready to sacrifice the lives of hundreds of soldiers and civilians of Azerbaijan for the sake of the extension of the current regime.
"We are confident that as a result of joint efforts aimed at forcing Azerbaijan to the peace, the people of Artsakh will be able to return very soon to the safe life and creative work on their homeland land," the statement says.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told an emergency sitting of the National Secuirty Council on Saturday evening that 18 Armenian soldiers were killed and 35 others wounded in the most firerce fighting in the conflict zone since 1994 truce.
The Karabakh Armenian military said the fighting continued Saturday late evening along the entire line of contact with Azeri troops suffeirng serious losses in manpower and military hardware. Karabakh military said they have killed more than 200 Azerbaijani soldiers, including dozens of members of a commando unit, shot down two helicopters, destroyed four tanks and two drones.-0-
