The USA wants to be useful for Armenia in the development of economy, democracy, implementation of reforms and establishment of civil society, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland said on Wednesday during a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the presidential press service reported.
YEREVAN, February 18. / ARKA /. The USA wants to be useful for Armenia in the development of economy, democracy, implementation of reforms and establishment of civil society, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland said on Wednesday during a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the presidential press service reported.
It said Nuland expressed satisfaction with the meetings she had in Yerevan today with government officials and representatives of civil society. She said the US is ready to discuss the possibility of further assistance to Armenia.
She also thanked Armenia for its involvement in international peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
In turn, President Sargsyan expressed hope that Nuland's visit to Yerevan will give a new impetus to Armenian-American dialogue at the highest level.
Sargsyan said Armenia attaches great importance to US role in ensuring security and stability in the region, particularly as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group seeking a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh problem.
The two sides were said to have exchanged also views on the Karabakh peace process, pressing international and regional problems and challenges, as well as the upcoming centenary of the Armenian Genocide.-0-
