The National Assembly of Armenia passed unanimously at the first reading a bill proposing an amendment to the law on holidays and memorable dates, in accordance with which December 9 will be marked as day of commemoration of victims of all genocides.

YEREVAN, March 25. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of Armenia passed unanimously at the first reading a bill proposing an amendment to the law on holidays and memorable dates, in accordance with which December 9 will be marked as day of commemoration of victims of all genocides.

<div>This date has been chosen not by chance, since on this very day in 1948 the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was adopted. </div>

<div>The bill is proposed by Artak Zakaryan, Koryun Nahapetyan and Shirak Torosyan, MPs from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, and Zruhi Postanjyan, Tevan Poghosyan and Alexander Arzumanyan, MPs from Heritage opposition party, Novosti-Armneia reports. ---0---- </div>
