YEREVAN, July 3./ARKA/. Young democratic states should prioritize and put into practice the rule of law, Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan said in his statement to open the two-day conference over European rule of law and values in Yerevan.

Over 80 representatives from 32 countries and international structures arrived in Yerevan to participate in this conference.

“I believe the essence of the rule of law is constitutionally rooted in all democratic states, however, the main task is to put it into practice, transform the legal restrictions of power into the life order,” head of President’s staff Vigen Sargsyan read the president’s welcoming statement.

Armenian president has noted new democratic states need systemized and comprehensive work, independent judicial system and unbiased justice systems, Novosti-Armenia reported.

Sargsyan also referred to Armenia’s chairmanship at the CE Committee of Ministers highlighting it was great honor for the republic and the authorities.

Being a CE chairman, Armenia will seek to further enhance European values and the rule of law, according to Sargsyan.

From May to November 2013 Armenia will be chairing the Council of Europe. Armenia became a member of the organization on 25 January 2001.—0
