Armenian prime minister discusses science development issues with Russian academician

Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian met today with members of the international expert advisory body of the National Science Laboratory, to discuss science development issues, the press service of the government said.

Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian met today with members of the international expert advisory body of the National Science Laboratory, to discuss science development issues, the press service of the government said. It said the delegation was headed by Yuri Hovhannisyan , head of nuclear reactions laboratory at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Russian Dubna.
In 2010 summer the government approved a report on major directions of future development of the Yerevan Institute of Physics after Alikhanyan, that was renamed National Scientific Laboratory.
The prime minister was said to thank members of the delegation for their effective participation in the formation of the advisory body.
He said as a result important decisions were taken regarding cooperation between the Yerevan Institute of Physics and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna and acquisition of new accelerators.
Academician Hovhannisyan and members of the advisory body, all renowned scientists, spoke about their approaches to the development prospects of the National Science Laboratory and the efficiency of scientific research.
During the meeting, questions were raised concerning the activities of the National Scientific Laboratory. In this context, implementation of programs aimed at the development of nuclear medicine was recognized as a key direction. -0-
