About $28.6 million will be invested in rehabilitation of water supply networks in Yerevan

YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. About $26.8 mln will be invested in the rehabilitation of the water supply networks in Armenia’s capital Yerevan, the Public Television reported.
The rehabilitation is co-financed by the Armenian government, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the EU. The most worn out sections of the water supply system, where the water loss reaches 70%, will be replaced and repaired.
According to Deputy Director of the Territorial Development Fund Ashot Khachatryan, the first phase of the project involved water supply networks in Arabkir, Kanaker-Zeytun, Erebuni, Kentron, Aygestan, Norq-Marash, Shengavit and Avan administrative districts.
During this phase about 80 km of water supply lines have been built and more than 73,000 individual connections have been made.
He noted that the second stage that will kick off in May will involve the repair of water supply networks in Hakhtanak and Silikyan districts, reconstruction of Araratyan pump station and construction of water supply network in Nor Harberd community.
"After the second stage, a total of more than 200 km of water lines will have been built and about 134 thousand household connections will be made," he noted. -0-
