Armenia’s birth rate in 8 months of 2023 up 2.5% year-on-year
YEREVAN, September 6. /ARKA/. Armenia's birth rate grew by 2.5% in January-August 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.
According to it, 23,551 babies were born during the reporting period, while in the first eight months of 2022 there were 22,986 newborns.
At the same time, compared to the same period of 2021, when 23,478 babies were born, the birth rate in the first 8 months of 2023 was down 0.3%.
Some 274 stillbirths were recorded during this period, which is 3.5% less than in the same period in 2022 and 15.4% less than in the same period in 2021.
A total of 16,,401 people died in the country during January-August 2023, down 11.1% from the same period in 2022 and 21.3% from the first eight months of 2021.
The viability rate - the ratio of births to deaths - was 143.6% compared to 124.6% in the first 8 months of 2022. -0-
