Armenia’s NSS thwarts two attempts of narcotics smuggling
YEREVAN, June 28. /ARKA/. Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) said its officers have uncovered two cases of illegal import of narcotic substances.
According to NSS press center, a resident of the town of Hrazdan, identified as Kh.T. , asked a town fellow identified as G.M, to drive to the Armenian-Iranian border by car and take a batch of drugs from an Iranian citizen and bring it to Hrazdan in return for a payment.
The man agreed, drove to the border town of Agarak and made an arrangement with the Iranian by phone.
On the morning of June 22, according to the arrangement, the resident of Hrazdan was handed over a package of drugs - 743 grams of marijuana and hashish, and drove back Hrazdan. But he was detained in the town of Yeghegnadzor by NSS officers. The drugs were found in the trunk of his car.
Another case involves delivery of drugs from Spain. Armenian citizen A.A. decided to illegally purchase 57 grams of cocaine in order to sell it at home.
On June 22, 2021, he hid drugs in his luggage and smuggled them aboard Barcelona-Warsaw-Yerevan flight to Yerevan's Zvartnots airport. There he was detained by NSS officers and searched. The drugs were found on him.
The above three citizens were detained and then arrested.
A suspect or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty according to a court ruling that has entered into legal force, in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia. - 0--
