Armenia’s State Revenue Committee launches criminal investigation into counterfeit laundry detergent case
YEREVAN, September 7. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) said it has launched a criminal investigation into a counterfeit laundry detergent case.
It said an individual entrepreneur, identified as A.K., had imported a large consignment of empty plastic bags of laundry detergent of well-known brands from Russia to pack in the laundry detergent of unknown origin and sell in Armenia.
The SRC said after going through the customs clearance the empty bags were transported to a location in Yerevan, where a citizen identified as Sh. A. was involved in production of fake washing powder. According to SRC, about 270 tons of counterfeit laundry detergent were to be packed into 30,100 bags, each weighing 9 kgs.
During the inspection of the scene, the bags with fake washing powder were seized. . -0-
