YEREVAN, November 9. /ARKA/. Armenia plans to purchase 600,000  COVID-19 vaccine doses in 2021, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said on Monday during parliamentary hearings on the draft state budget for 2021.

According to him, within the framework of the immunization program, funding has been increased this year and an advance payment of 890 million drams has been made for vaccines against coronavirus.

He said the procurement is planned to be carried out within the framework of the international platform for the unified procurement and distribution of vaccines (which have not yet been approved).

“Participation in this platform will allow Armenia to get an opportunity to purchase a vaccine that will be approved at the world level and will be available for other countries as well,” Torosyan said.

According to him, the 890 million drams are only an advance payment of 30% of the required amount, and next year payments should be increased, which will allow immunization of 10% of the population.

According to him, the purchase is scheduled for the beginning of the second quarter of 2021, presumably April. -0-
