YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. The Defense and Security Committee of the Armenian National Assembly on Thursday approved in the second and final reading a legislative initiative to reduce the fine for driving without mandatory car insurance.

According to Eduard Aghajanyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, motorists will be fined 25,000 drams instead of the current 100,000 drams when driving without compulsory car insurance.

The reduced fine will be applied if the motorist pays 25,000 drams within 24 hours after the violation is recorded.

Compulsory insurance against physical damage caused to other cars and individuals became mandatory in the country on January 1, 2011. --0--
