Armenian law-enforcement officers detained Emergency Situations Minister Andranik Piloyan on Wednesday after raiding the ministry on Monday as part of an investigation into a corruption case, Armenpress news agency reported citing the Anti-Corruption Committee.

No other details were provided. The Anti-Corruption Committee said it would issue an official press release soon.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Committee said that a criminal investigation was launched in toa corruption case involving the ministry.
Piloyan, a retired army general, was appointed minister in July, 2020. He was awarded the highest National Hero of Armenia title after participating in the 2020 war with Azerbaijan. -0-
