Armenian government closes town of Vardenis because of coronavirus

Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, who is also head of a government task force coordinating the state of emergency measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, has ordered to impose a set of restrictions on the town of Vardenis in Gegharkunik province.
YEREVAN, April 21. /ARKA/. Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, who is also head of a government task force coordinating the state of emergency measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, has ordered to impose a set of restrictions on the town of Vardenis in Gegharkunik province.
The order bans entry and exit of people and vehicles into and from the town with the exception of vehicles bringing essential goods, items, food, medicine and fuel.
Only the local residents have the right to enter the territory of Vardenis, the government said.
The National Security Service and the Armenian Police were ordered to set up special checkpoints for inspecting vehicles entering the town. The decision comes into force from the moment of publication and will be effective until 23:59, April 28th.
Earlier, the authorities blocked the town of Maralik and the village of Dzorakap in the Shirak region, as well as the village of Norashen in the Ararat region. -0-
