YEREVAN, May 27. /ARKA/. In its strategy, the Armenian government will be guided by the scenario of a gradual return to possible restrictions, Armenian Vice-Premier Tigran Avinyan said Tuesday at a briefing.

"This means that, in general, no economic restrictions are expected in the near future, since we have switched to a decentralized methodology of the struggle. This means that each of us must make our own contribution to this struggle, protecting ourselves and our loved ones," he said.

Avinyan called the strictest compliance with anti-epidemiological standards - maintaining social distance, wearing masks and periodic disinfection - the most important condition for achieving a common goal.

"At today's meeting, we [commandant’s office - ed.], unfortunately, in development of certain scenarios, did not rule out the possibility of returning to the quarantine regime, and we will use this mechanism in individual communities," he said, recalling that quarantine was introduced in the city of Sevan on May 25 and in the Areni community.

“All forces and capacities will be used in order not to return to the quarantine regime of a republic-wide scale. But for this it is necessary that each of us be honest in this matter. Administrative toughening will be in force again, and we ask our fellow citizens to treat this with understanding," he said.

Avinyan emphasized that toughening is necessary in order to maintain the capacity and service potential of the entire healthcare system.

"The healthcare system should be able to provide long-term care to patients," he explained.

According to him, so far in the foreseeable future there is no way to talk about the complete elimination of the coronavirus pandemic, and so far no country in the world has announced this.

"We will live with the pandemic for a certain time, and our task is to ensure that the healthcare system is able to provide treatment for patients," he said.

As the commandant also said that the possibility of increasing the number of tests for the coronavirus is also being discussed.

The state of emergency, introduced in Armenia on March 16, 2020 and extended to May 14, is again extended until 17:00 on June 13 inclusive.

As of Tuesday morning, there were 7,402 confirmed COVID-19 infection cases, 91 deaths and 3,220 recovery cases in Armenia. -0---
