YEREVAN, July 15, /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) said today its officers foiled an attempt by an Iranian citizen to send 2.5 kg of opium to Australia from Armenia.
SRC said the opium was discovered by the National Security Service officers together with employees of the customs control zone of the Haypost national postal operator's exchange center when inspecting a parcel registered for being sent to Australia from Armenia.
As a result they found seven floral vests with the total weight of about 6 kilos. Their inner sponge pads were soaked in brown powder-like mass of opium, the actual weight of which was about 2.5 kg.
SRC said the investigation into this case is underway.-0-
