YEREVAN, June 15. /ARKA/. Armenian Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said at a briefing today that   the average age of people dying from coronavirus is showing a downhill tendency.

"This means that the younger generation should be concerned too about wearing masks, not only because of the threat to infect members of their family and people with chronic diseases, but also for their own sake," he said.

The Minister noted that there are many cases when young people themselves are not aware of their chronic diseases.
"Many of our citizens do not know that they have diabetes, many do not suspect that they have high blood pressure, and these two risk factors are present in almost all of our deceased citizens," he said.

A 30-day state of emergency to curb the spread of coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16 and restrictions were imposed on free movement of citizens. The government banned also some types of economic activity. On April 13, the government extended the state of emergency for another month and on May 4 it lifted the ban on almost all types of economic activity and the free movement of citizens, except for public transport. On May 14, the government has again extended the state of emergency for another 30 days.

However, despite the extension, public transport, preschools, trading centers, restaurants and gyms have reopened starting from May 18, and  wearing of masks has become  mandatory in public spaces.

On June 12, the government has extended the state of emergency for another month- until July 13.  Armenia's confirmed cases of Covid-19 have grown to 17,064 over the past 24 hours, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported. It said the death toll from the infection rose to 285 and also, some 6,276 patients have recovered.-0-
