YEREVAN, February 9 /ARKA/. The construction of the Kotayk-Gegharkunik landfill as part of the EBRD-financed solid waste management program will soon enter an intensive stage, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan in an interview with Radio Azatutyun.

Last November Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan said 125.6 million drams were earmarked for this project for 2021, of which 104.6 million drams are loan funds and 20.9 million drams are the government's co-financing.
In 2019, 124.4 million drams were spent (54.3% of the projected amount for that year) mainly on consulting services.

The tender for the construction of the landfill was won by an Iranian company Ariana, which will kick off the construction once the coronavirus crisis is over.

The goal of this project is to improve the solid waste collection and management services in the Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions of Armenia, including the construction of a new landfill in the town of Hrazdan. ($ 1 - 521.8 drams). -0-
