YEREVAN, June 2. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia said today that the number of breaches of safety regulations established by its task force with the aim of containing the spread of coronavirus has reduced as the Health and Labor Inspectorate continues checking the compliance with these regulations by companies.

It said some companies, which failed to comply,  were ordered to shut down temporarily as a result. It said also there is a noticeable tendency to increase the coordination of measures to comply with sanitary standards in large shopping centers.

Violations are recorded mainly in beauty salons, pharmacies and dental centers. It said many of them fail to disinfect, sterilize and dispose of medical waste. Given the particular risk of these violations, dental centers are in the focus of attention, it said.

A 30-day state of emergency to curb the spread of coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16 and restrictions were imposed on free movement of citizens. The government banned also some types of economic activity. On April 13, the government extended the state of emergency for another month and on May 4 it lifted the ban on almost all types of economic activity and the free movement of citizens, except for public transport. On May 14, the government has again extended the state of emergency for another 30 days.

However, despite the extension, public transport, preschools, trading centers, restaurants and gyms have reopened starting from May 18, and  wearing of masks has become  mandatory in public spaces.

According to official data, 517 people have tested positive for Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, raising the total number to date to 10,009. The Ministry of Health said that nineteen people died from the disease in one day, raising the death toll to 158. Health authorities also said that a total of 3,427 patients have recovered from the disease. -0-
