YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. A national working conference was held in Yerevan for summarizing the results of efforts to lessen disaster risks, the Armenian territorial administration and emergency ministry reports on its official website. 

Sendai Disaster Risk Reduction Program for 2015-30 was presented and further approaches and joint programs with the ministry's key partners were discussed. 

Representatives of government agencies, the World Bank and Asian Development Bank as well as international nongovernmental and humanitarian organizations took part in the event organized by ARNAP Fund and UNDP.

«Armenia has accomplished a great deal in development and introduction of a disaster risk reduction policy, and this success became possible also thanks to an effective cooperation with partner organizations,» said Haykaram Mkhitaryan, deputy emergency minister.

He said Japanese Hego's program had been completely implemented, and this allows shaping an effective basis for lessening disaster risks. 

Nikolay Grigoryan, the coordinator of the Sendai program, presented details of the program to the conference participants. 

In his words, the implementation of this program is expected to lessen disaster risks as well as economic, physical, social cultural and environmental losses. 

Grigoryan said that a big program is being developed for providing information about Sendai actions.  

Besides, 'Mass Media for Resilient' international conference will take place in Yerevan in December 15 and 16. 
The Sendai Disaster Risk Reduction Progran for 2015-2030 was adopted at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction on March 18, 2015, in Sendai, Japan. --0----
