YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. Round-the-clock water supply will be provided to 40% of the population in Armenia in 2014, general director of Armenian Water and Sewerage Company Patrick Lorain said.
In 2013, 38% of the population had 24-hour supply. The company is planning to increase this percentage to 100% by 2020, Lorain said.
Armenia’s government allocated about $100 million to the company for implementation if investment projects.
Lorain also said 98% of the company’s subscribers have 4 and more hours of supply today. The average supply duration has substantially increased over the last ten years, he said.
Average supply duration reached 17 hours this year, as compared to 6 hours in 2004, Lorain said.
The general director noted the company is taking measures to increase the service quality and the main problem is still the lack of investments.
