YEREVAN, November 8. /ARKA/. GeoProMining Gold has refuted the mass media report about an accident that allegedly occurred at Sotk mine in Armenia.

Zhoghovurd (People) newspaper reported on October 29 that a man was killed in an accident that occurred at the mine on October 27.

“In response to the publication of the newspaper " Zhoghovurd " on 29.10.2013 ( Accident ) the Company GeoProMining Gold considers it appropriate to inform that the information about the alleged accident in October of this year  at the Sotk mine, operated by GeoProMining Gold is not true”, says the press office of the company.

The security service of the Sotk mine made an official statement saying “no such accident was reported on the territory under its control; among the Company personnel no one is killed or injured”, according to the report.

GeoProMining Gold has also asked for information about the allaged accident from Vardenis Department of the Police. In his official response Chief of the police colonel T.G.Galoyan said that no reports were received in relation to Vardenis city resident Vachik Saghatelyan accident (referred to in the publication).

The company pointed to another allegation in the newspaper this time regarding non-payment of taxes by GeoProMining Gold. According to the 2012 data of the State Revenue Committee, the company paid more than 4 billion drams in taxes and other charges to the government budget in 2012, according to the report.  Payments exceeded 5.5 billion drams by November 1 2013, says the company’s report.

“In this regard, statement of the newspaper shall be considered as another journalistic fiction”, says the report.

“GeoProMining Gold company once again urges the media and non-governmental organizations to refrain from publishing irresponsible and unchecked information”, according to the report.
