YEREVAN, July 7. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has amended today its earlier decision on the treatment of wounded servicemen abroad, saying that the government will fund also the travel, accommodation and other costs of accompanying person.
The procedure and conditions for granting funds for treatment, accommodation and travel for military personnel, undergoing treatment or examination abroad if proper care is not possible in Armenia was adopted by the government on April 21 following an unprecedented surge in violence along the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh launched by Azerbaijan on April 2. These costs were earlier covered by the ministry of defense. Now they are handed to the government.
On June 17 the parliament amended the law on social security of servicemen and their families, under which the servicemen who get wounded or injured while serving on the front line will undergo treatment abroad if necessary and the costs will be paid by the government. Treatment abroad will be carried out only if no such treatment is available in Armenia. -0-
