YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/. Today, the capital of Armenia Yerevan will see a temperature that is going to break a more than 60-year record, Armenia’s National Weather Service said.

According to the weather forecasters, the temperature will rise to 40 degrees Celsius this afternoon. The highest ever temperature on this day-38.2 degrees Celsius - was recorded back in 1961.

No rains are expected across the country in the next few days. The temperatures will gradually decrease by 2-3 degrees on August 20-21.

The wind is expected to reach 14-17 meters/sec in the foothills of Aragatsotn and Kotayk regions..

The National Weather Service warned that all of the country will be affected by tropical warm air flows reaching Armenia from the regions of Iraq and this is why a high wildfire risk is expected in the foothills and valleys of the country.

The intensity of UV radiation on August 17-19 August is expected to be higher than normal. It is recommended that people avoid direct sunlight from 11:00 to 17:00 hours. --0--
