Major of Armenian armed forces accused of treason: he was captured and recruited by Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, March 7. /ARKA/. The deputy commander for logistics of an Armenian military unit is accused of treason, the Office of Prosecutor General said today.
According to it, the deputy commander, identified by his initials A.N, was recruited by the Azerbaijani special services in September 2021 after together with another serviceman A.T. he was captured by Azerbaijani soldiers when delivering food supplies to the military positions near Sev Lich Lake in Syunik region.
The investigation revealed that while in captivity in one of the prisons of Baku A. N. had signed a written agreement on cooperation with foreign intelligence services of Azerbaijan.
On September 7 of the same year A. N. was repatriated and in December of 2021 was appointed as commander for logistics of a military unit.
During his tenure A. N. in exchange for a reward of $20.2 thousand provided the enemy with intelligence information that is a state secret, thereby committing treason to the detriment of the territorial integrity and external security of Armenia.
On February 28, 2023 a prosecutor initiated criminal prosecution against A. N. and charged him with treason. The investigation has been completed, the indictment has been approved, and the case has been referred to a first instance court in Yerevan. -0--
