The situation with the coronavirus in Armenia is under control and the country can return to the usual rhythm of life, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
YEREVAN, March 5. /ARKA/. The situation with the coronavirus in Armenia is under control and the country can return to the usual rhythm of life, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
The minister noted that all necessary measures are being taken, from border control to monitoring patients who may have symptoms of the disease.
"We still have only one confirmed case of the disease. The patient is in the infectious diseases hospital, and another 31 people who contacted him are quarantined in the resort town of Tsaghkadzor. Everyone feels well and has no complaints, including the patient who tested positive for coronavirus," Torosyan said.
He also said that the wife of the man who tested positive was examined again and tested negative. "This infectious disease, as we see even from our own experience, is not very contagious, and even people living together may not get infected," said Torosyan. He said so far 162 people were tested for the detection of coronavirus and only one known case was confirmed.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araik Harutyunyan commented on Thursday the possibility of extending the holidays in schools because of the coronavirus. In connection with the first case of coronavirus detected in Armenia on March 1, classes in the country's schools and universities were suspended from March 2 to March 6 inclusive.
"We are in constant contact with the Ministry of Health and at the moment we have no recommendations not to resume educational processes," Harutyunyan said. He said if no new information is received from the Ministry of Health in the next couple of days, then classes will resume on Monday.–0--
