YEREVAN, July 15. /ARKA/. More than 111,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have already been administered in Armenia, Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said today.

Vaccines are bought by Armenia’s government and any foreigner can get the jab here free of charge. Journalists asked the minister why the government vaccinates foreigners free of charge, although in much richer countries foreigners have to pay for it.

Thousands of Iranians are arriving in Armenia to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Hundreds of them can be seen standing in long line for free vaccination at mobile points in downtown Yerevan.

Mobile clinics were set up in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and Dilijan to make vaccination easily accessible both to tourists and locals . As for Iranians, they don’t need a visa to travel to Armenia.

"Our goal, both during the treatment of coronavirus and vaccination, to make all services available to foreigners is of a humanitarian and purely anti-epidemic nature, since the coronavirus does not recognize either citizenship, status or age. Everyone is treated because they pose a public threat," said Avanesyan.

According to her, taking into account the high interest in vaccination in Armenia, an assessment is being made to find out how much the expenses of foreigners in Armenia correlate to the cost of vaccine they get.

She said if the number of foreigners grow as much as to become impossible to manage the authorities will take a reasonable decision to resolve the situation.

"We want to do everything possible so that there are no problems, crowds or queues of foreigners wanting to get vaccinated," Avanesyan said.

She also noted that from today a new procedure for the vaccination of foreigners comes into force, according to which only whose Iranians whose passport stamps show they entered the country at least 10 days earlier will be able eligible to free vaccination.

She noted that when leaving Armenia, Armenian citizens need to be attentive to the policy of the country of destination.

"When entering Armenia, vaccination or testing is accepted at the choice of the citizen," Avanesyan said. -0-
