YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. The Armenian government is expected to approve soon the investment project of a private company that plans to renovate the Children's Railroad in Yerevan. The news was announced today at a meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders.

The project proposed by the company calls for complete renovation and modernization of the park and development of infrastructure. The company that has leased the facility plans also to invest over $20 million to build a ropeway.

The Children's Railroad was built in 1937 and was truly unique in the whole Soviet Union. However, over time, it became obsolete, and the tunnels connecting it to the center of Yerevan appeared in an emergency condition. The facility was to be rehabilitated in the 1980s, but that did not happen after the collapse of the Soviet Union.-0-
