YEREVAN, September 17. /ARKA/. A multifunctional recreation area covering 3,480 square meters will be established in the Hrazdan Gorge.

On Wednesday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, and other senior officials visited the site in the Arabkir community designated for the facility, the government press service reports.

As stated by Arabkir Prefect Suren Varosyan, the design for the multifunctional recreation area has already been completed.

The objective is to promote modern and sustainable development that reflects the rich heritage of the Hrazdan Gorge. The government will provide the necessary funding. The planned recreation area will feature children's and sports zones, an open-air cinema, along with distinctive architectural and landscape designs.

Additionally, repairs will be made to retaining walls, landscaping will be undertaken for two waterfalls on the Hrazdan River, and a small bridge will be constructed to connect to the opposite pedestrian path.

Prime Minister Pashinyan also visited the open-air sports ground in Hrazdan Gorge (Bidzu Gyol), where he assessed the restoration efforts, the state of the renovated swimming pool, the new changing facilities, and the sports equipment available on-site.

It was previously reported that the authorities aim to grant special status to the Hrazdan Gorge and convert it into a recreational area. The region is currently facing significant environmental challenges due to the discharge of wastewater and refuse from nearby restaurants into the river.-0-
