The new generation prefers to receive information from social networks, not from printed media, Armen Davtyan, head of head of Blitz Media LLC, said at a news conference on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. The new generation prefers to receive information from social networks, not from printed media, Armen Davtyan, head of head of Blitz Media LLC, said at a news conference on Wednesday.
He was quoted by Novosti-Armenia as saying that young people are not willing to read newspapers – this is alien to them.
«The growing generation reads all news in social networks without imagining and understanding the power and significance of newspapers, and they don't know even the scent of newspapers,» he said.
Internet is flooded with unnecessary information out of rules and censorship, which should not be read by the new generation.
Davtyan said that nowadays newspapers have no their buyers, since young people are unused to reading – newspapers for children, students and the youth have not been published for two decades.
In his opinion, Armenian newspapers' quality is quite high, and the only problem is to fill 12 pages with stories, while there are no sufficient events in the country. Therefore, information in all newspapers is the same.
«I have looked through foreign newspapers and have come to conclusion that Armenia is first among post-Soviet countries for quality and quantity of printed media outlets and for freedom of expression and electronic media sources,» he said.
Davtyan stressed in this connection that Pressinfo.am website, launched yesterday, has particular aim – to provide consumers with quick information about contents of the printed media sources that become available much later.
Pressinfo.am also ensures delivery of printed sources to any destination, even to Armenia's remote areas, where newspapers and magazines came with substantial delay and sometimes in winter didn't come at all. ---0-----
