YEREVAN, May 8. /ARKA/. Akshin Babirov, one of the two Azerbaijani soldiers, who illegally entered the territory of Armenia earlier this year, has been sentenced to 11.5 years in prison, the Armenian Public Television reported Monday, citing the Office of Prosecutor General.

The Azerbaijani serviceman was found guilty of illegally crossing the border and moving firearms and ammunition across the state border. He pleaded guilty, the Pubic Television said.

The investigation into the second saboteur, Huseyn Akhundov, continues. He is also accused of the murder of a guard at Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine in Armenian Kajaran.

The first Azerbaijani was detained on April 10 and the second one on April 13. They were said to have crossed into Armenia from Azerbaijani exclave Nakhijevan.

According to reports, the second Azerbaijani serviceman was detained by three young men outside a village in Syunik region of Armenia.

The Azerbaijani soldier possessed the murdered guard’s mobile phone, which he used to download a video on Instagram bragging about killing Armenians and saying that “we are not traitors of our fatherland.” -0-
