Parliamentary committee approves amendments to legislation aimed at reducing burden on courts
YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. The Armenian Parliament's State and Legal Affairs Committee on Tuesday approved a number of amendments and additions to the Civil Procedure Code aimed at reducing the burden on courts.
'We need to solve a number of problems related to civil proceedings, as well as reduce the burden on courts," Deputy Justice Minister Armenuhi Harutyunyan said while presenting the proposed amendments to the committee.
The current Civil Procedure Code was adopted back in 2018 and has been regularly amended so far, the deputy minister said, adding that major and systemic changes regarding the application of the code, as well as problems arising in practice, have not been addressed.
The deputy minister noted that this need has been repeatedly pointed out by both the government and the strategy aimed at reforming the judicial system.
According to her, as a result of the proposed changes, in particular, the emphasis will be placed on reducing the burden on the courts and on the possibility of providing citizens with better services.
Thus, thanks to the new rules, participants in the judicial process will be able to more fully realize their procedural rights.
"Notices will be sent by telephone or via the Internet. Thus, the courts will actually be rid of groundless complaints,' she said. -0-
