YEREVAN, March 19. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke Tuesday at a news conference also about illegally privatized lands and the property acquired through corruption. “We have already launched procedures in this direction,” he said.
Pashinyan said that when he visited Meghri in 2018, he was surprised as he learned that there were no free territories. “We learned that some high-ranking officials have privatized all the areas surrounding the free economic zone in Meghri, since they knew that this project would be implemented there, and they have done that at ridiculous prices,” he said.
“We politely asked them to return these territories, but they refused. Very well. We considered the matter in details and criminal cases have been opened. It will necessarily be proved that abuses have been committed.”
The premier said that this process is delicate, but it should be continued.
“I can’t say that all the privatized territories will be returned to the state – this can be done in illegal privatization cases…”
Pashinyan called on all former officials to come to law enforcement agencies, to make confession and to give everything stolen back to the Republic of Armenia, otherwise, the law enforcement agencies will work intensively to return everything stolen to people as soon as possible. --0---
