Purchasing ability of Armenia’s population keeps falling – newspaper
YEREVAN, February 23. /ARKA/. Purchasing ability of Armenia’s population keeps falling and this shows that poverty in the country is growing, Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Time) reported on Tuesday referring to the National Statistical Service’s figures.

Trade in Armenia fell 1.7% in January, compare with the same month a year before. This means people are purchasing fewer goods now than one year earlier.

In January 2014, trade already dropped 7.5%.

Remarkable is that the population’s purchasing ability was weakening throughout entire 2015 while official statistical reports showed impressive growth in all the segments of the national economy.

The same was going on I the first month of this year – all the sectors of the economy have allegedly enjoyed growth and an average salary rose, while people are coming poorer and poorer, according to the newspaper. --0-----
