Some 146 combatants and demobilized people in Armenia managed to find jobs - Ministry of Social Affairs
YEREVAN, September 12. /ARKA/. Some 146 Armenian citizens, who participated in combat operations in 2016, 2020 and 2022 have found jobs in 2023 with the assistance of a government-designed program, Zhora Sargsyan, head of a department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, said on Tuesday.
"Now they have 12-month labor contracts with employers," Sargsyan told a press conference.
The program, designed for unemployed persons who took part in combat operations as well as for those who completed 24-month compulsory military service, was launched last year.
At that time, 280 people took advantage of the program. This year about 500 people are expected to apply, according to Sargsyan.
He noted that this program allows employers to choose one of three hiring options. Thus, if the employer believes that a potential employee needs to acquire skills or improve them, the government subsidizes the training. However, the subsidy amount is not more than 50 thousand drams per month. Besides, the beneficiary of the program will be provided with an allowance of 50% of the minimum wage – 37,500 drams.
At the same time, if the employer, without any valid reason, refuses to work with the mentioned beneficiary during one year, he/she will have to reimburse the cost of training.
Under the second option if the employer decides that the potential employee should take an internship course for a period of up to three months, the government reimburses the beneficiary's salary and taxes during this period.
The third option is when the employer considers that the beneficiary of the program does not need any additional education or internship. In this case the employer will receive one-time support in the amount of 300 thousand drams. However, again, in the case of a one-year employment contract.
"With the help of this program, some beneficiaries were able to find jobs as a doctor, dentist, cook, furniture maker, web designer, marketer, accountant, welder and hairdresser," Sargsyan said. -0-
