YEREVAN, September 22. /ARKA/. The UN Development Program is currently implementing 10 environmental projects in Armenia under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment Protection. Their total budget is over $ 35 million, the press service of the Ministry of Environment Protection said.
It said a set of cooperation issues were discussed today by Environment Protection Minister Romanos Petrosyan and members of the UNDP delegation headed by UNDP Resident Representative Dmitry Maryasin.
These 10 projects are related to sustainable land and forest management, climate change mitigation, development of forest and field fire management capacity, and reduction and increasing investment risks for energy efficient building retrofits.
During the meeting, the sides spoke about the projects related to climate change, forestry, biodiversity, protection of protected areas, as well as waste management, which are implemented with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility and the Green Climate Fund being coordinated by the Ministry of Environment Protection.
Minister Petrosyan expressed readiness to further deepen cooperation between Armenia and UNDP for achieving a healthier environment. In turn, Maryasin, thanked him and expressed hope for the launch of new programs in the near future. --0--
