YEREVAN, April 28. /ARKA/. From now on, vaccination against Covid-19 will be available in Armenia also on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 16:00, according to deputy head of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention Gayane Sahakyan.

Speaking at a news conference today, she said the change will allow citizens who cannot go to the clinic on weekdays to get the vaccines on days off.

Sahakyan also said that the phased vaccination will be removed. "All citizens over 18, both in risk groups and outside it, can apply for the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Sputnik V vaccine will be given to vulnerable groups: people from 18 to 54 years old, health workers, people with chronic diseases and citizens who work for social security organizations," she said.

According to her, this policy may change when new batches of Sputnik V arrive Sahakyan stated that from now on, citizens can get a vaccine in a medical institution they prefer. They need only to make an appointment in advance. This opportunity is also available to foreign citizens who are temporarily in the country and have a residence permit.

She added that no tests are required before vaccination. She stressed that the shelf life of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine expires in September 2021, and that of AstraZeneca - at the end of May.

'From 800 to 1000 new cases of COVID-19 and over 10 deaths are recorded per day in the country. However, there is a slight relative downward trend," she said.

Armenia has bought so far 24 thousand doses of AstraZeneca and 29,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines.

"In the near future, we will purchase a batch of the Chinese Sinovac vaccines as part of the COVAX Facility scheme and other vaccines," she said.

She said those who were vaccinated reported only a slight increase in body temperature, some local reactions, weakness and short flu manifestations.

According to her, the number of people vaccinated against coronavirus is growing by 4-5% daily. Vaccination in Armenia is not mandatory. -0-
