YEREVAN, November 4. /ARKA/. Vehicle owners in Armenia can have a replacement of their stolen or lost license plates, the Police said today.

License plate theft is not uncommon in Armenia. The thieves know that if both license plates are stolen the car owner can not have a replacement and will have to pay for having new ones.

The bulk of stolen license plates are so-called ‘golden’ numbers. The thieves usually contact the owners via Telegram, demanding money for their return.

According to Police, now thanks to a set of amendments made in July of this year to a corresponding government decision, which came into force on October 16, car owners can have a duplicate of their stolen or lost license plates. The change applies to all license plates stolen or lost starting from January 2020.-0-
