YEREVAN, November 19. /ARKA/. The construction of the third Iran-Armenia high-voltage power transmission line will be completed on December 31, 2021, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan told reporters on Tuesday.

He  said the construction of the 270 km long power transmission line and a substation kicked off in  2006, but the active construction stage began only in April 2018.

He  reminded that now the maximum capacity of transmission lines between Armenia and Iran is 350 MW, which is not constant in view of the fluctuations in the mornings and evenings. He said when the construction of the new power transmission line is over, the total capacity will be increased to 1200 MW.

When completed, the third high-voltage power transmission line between Armenia and Iran and the fourth high-voltage power line between Armenia and Georgia (also under construction), along with the Yerevan thermal power plant will ensure reliable  and uninterrupted supply of electricity to Armenia's neighbor countries making it an important player in the regional  electricity market. -0-
