Small solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 300-400 MW are to be built in Armenia by 2024, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan told reporters on Tuesday.
YEREVAN, November 19. /ARKA/. Small solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 300-400 MW are to be built in Armenia by 2024, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan told reporters on Tuesday.
He said the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has awarded this year licenses for the construction of solar power plants each with a capacity of up to 5 MW. Their total installed capacity is 200 MW, and some of them with the total installed capacity of 105 MW are under construction now, he added.
He said by 2024 solar power plants are supposed to secure 10% of the total electricity consumption in the country. He added that this, in turn, will allow to cease imports of energy resources in the same amount. He said that from mid-2018 to 2019, 9 solar power plants have been built with a capacity of 4.1 MW and another 25 plants with a capacity of up to 5 MW are under construction.
He said also the financial results of an international tender announced for the construction of the Masrik-1 photovoltaic solar power plant with a capacity of 55 MW will be summed up on December 16, after which the winning company will be given two years for its construction.
He said apart from Masrik-1, another tender has been announced for a consultant for the construction of another 5 solar power plants with an installed capacity of 120 MW, the results of which are to be announced before the end of the year.
He said the selection of a consultant is to be followed by research, preparation of documents for announcing another international tender in 6-7 months to choose a company for construction of new solar power plants.
He said the largest of the stations - with a capacity of 75 MW -will be built near the town of Talin in Shirak province, and the rest in Gagarino, Hrazdan, Metz Masrik and Shorzha in Gegharkunik province. -0--
