Armenia to develop medical and health tourism - head of Tourism Committee
YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. Armenia plans to introduce and develop medical and health tourism in the near future, said Lusine Gevorgyan, Chairperson of the Armenian Tourism Committee.
"Meetings with representatives of the sector have already been held. I think that Armenia has the potential to develop this type of tourism," Gevorgyan said in an interview with journalists on Thursday.
Gevorgyan also emphasized the importance of expanding tourism cooperation with foreign countries. ‘’We want to broaden our cooperation, particularly with France and Germany. Significant work is already being done with German donors in this area,’’ she said.
According to the latest official data, over 1.92 million tourists visited Armenia in the first 10 months of 2024, a 5.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. The majority of tourists came from Russia (43%), Georgia (11%), Iran (7%), as well as the United States (3%) and India (2%).-0-
