Decline in the number of Russian tourists in December was offset by growth of tourist visits from India, Iran and China

YEREVAN, February 3. /ARKA/. The number of foreign tourists visiting Armenia in 2024 December dropped compared to 2023 December, the Finance Ministry said in a macroeconomic developments review. December 2024.
“In December, a decline of 1.9% was registered, and compared to the previous month of 2024 – the decline amounted to 7.6%. This was mainly contributed by a decrease in the number of tourists from the Russian Federation. The decline was, however, offset to some extent by an increase in the number of tourists from India, Iran and China,” according to the review.
It also noted that in 2024 the number of tourists visiting Armenia decreased by 7.6% compared to the previous year.
According to the Tourism Committee, some 130,148 tourists visited Armenia in December 2024 against 132,709 tourists in December 2023. Earlier, Armenia's Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said that approximately 2.2 million tourist visits were recorded for the whole of last year. -0-
