Georgia removes all Covid-19 restrictions

YEREVAN, June 15. /ARKA/. Georgia has lifted today all measures and restrictions imposed to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, people arriving in Georgia by air or land are not required to present proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test.

Before June 15, 2022 they might be denied entry if the above-mentioned requirements were not met, Russian Kommersant daily reported, citing a Georgian government decree.

Georgian authorities announced back in March that the COVID-19 epidemic in the country would soon be over. A total of more than 1.6 million people in the country were reported to have fallen ill and more than 16,800 infected people died.

In May Georgia was among the most popular destinations for Russian tourists. Overall, according to Russian Platform center, the proportion of Russians who were planning to vacation abroad has decreased threefold.

Against this background, the number of Russians who were willing to spend a vacation in their home region increased to 70%. -0-
