Deputy police chief discloses details of attack in Yerevan

Deputy chief of Armenian Police Hunan Poghosyan told reporters that members of an armed group that took control of a police station today morning in Yerevan's Erebuni district, have killed Colonel Arthur Vanoyan, wounding also Colonel Aram Hovhannisyan, Colonel Hrachya Hostegyan and commissioned officer Gagik Mkrtchyan.

Founding Parliament’s posters removed from Freedom Square

Police officers in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan have on Sunday removed the posters of the radical opposition movement called Founding Parliament from the Freedom Square in the downtown after an armed group with links to Zhirayr Sefilian, the jailed leader of the movement, seized a police building in Yerevan on Sunday, killing one policemen and taking several more hostage, including top officers.

Armenia’s National Security Service detains two more people on suspicion of being part of armed group

Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) said today it has detained Garnik Margaryan, head of a minor party called "Homeland and Honor’ and Vladimir Arakelyan, the main shareholder of a sports shoe factory in the town of Yeghvard, on suspicion of being part of a well-organized group that plotted to kill senior Armenian officials and carry out other terrorist attacks in the country.
