€8-million SMEDA program launched in Armenia

SMEDA, a program supporting small and mid-scale businesses in Armenia, with a budget amounting to €8 million has just launched in Armenia, the Head of Cooperation Section in the EU Delegation to Armenia, Hoa-Binh Adjemian, told journalists on Friday.

YEREVAN, October 31. /ARKA/. SMEDA, a program supporting small and mid-scale businesses in Armenia, with a budget amounting to €8 million has just launched in Armenia, the Head of Cooperation Section in the EU Delegation to Armenia, Hoa-Binh Adjemian, told journalists on Friday.
In his words, this four-year program is being implemented as part of the initiative EU4Business and is being financed by the European Union and GIZ, German’s agency for international cooperation.
“This is a comprehensive program, which is supplemented by other EU-run programs,” Adjemian said.
“It is planned to establish 100 small and medium businesses a year, which will operate in the areas of innovations, finance and finance availability.”
The share of small and medium businesses in Armenia’s GDP is 30%.
According to the latest data, as many as 70,000 small and medium enterprises function in Armenia now.
In 2015, the share of SMEs in Armenia’s budget revenue was 2.4%. ---0---
