Sniffer dog detects drugs in parcel sent to Armenia from USA

YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. A specially trained dog discovered drugs in a parcel arriving from the United States at the customs control zone of Apaven Terminal CJSC.
According to the Armenian State Revenue Committee, two packages containing a total of 920 grams of marijuana were found in a parcel delivered to Armenia by Trans Shipping LLC for a citizen identified as A.G.
As a result of an operation conducted by operatives from the Anti-Smuggling Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) and the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the National Security Service (NSS), the addressee was located in the town of Vagharshapat and detained as part of a criminal case related to smuggling and the illegal sale of drugs.
A search was conducted at the detainee's residence, and he was subsequently detained by a court order.
A suspect or accused in a criminal case is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court decision that has entered into legal force in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
